The concept of Home Staging was created by Barb Schwarz in 1985 and has been used by thousands of Realtors and home owners to sell properties quicker and at the highest price. Staging a home prepares it for the market by revealing its best qualities and minimizing its flaws. Accredited Staging Professionals (ASPs) are experts at seeing what a house needs to make it more attractive to potential buyers. This might be removing and or rearranging the home owner’s furniture and accessories, or it may entail furnishing and decorating an empty property.
ASPs also address the exterior areas of the home taking into consideration landscaping and cleanliness. Curb appeal is the most important tool in attracting attention to a listing. Once the prospective buyer is in the house, their impression of the home is defined in the first few seconds. If there is a confusing or unpleasant introduction to the home the buyer will be turned off throughout the property. Home Staging works to create an inviting and comfortable environment so the buyer will want to spend more time in the home and can start seeing themselves moving into the space.

Before After
Because there are several different aspects of Home Staging, pricing is on a per project basis. If furniture rental is involved, count on a minimum 3 month rental commitment. Stagers have different specialties and capabilities, some will even manage remodeling if it is needed to get the home ready for sale. A good saying is that the cost of Staging will always be less than a reduction in the asking price of the home and because the home will sell faster, there will be fewer mortgage payments.
